Field work shots

(2019-20) acrylic painting on wood

Art has played an important role in the environmental movement of the United States. From Ansel Adam's photography to Thomas Cole's paintings, landscapes shaped the way that people viewed nature. But what a lot of that art has in common is their absence of humans. They're kind of lonely. And they aren't an accurate depiction of the land anyway. Native Americans have been stewards of the land for generations. Even today tons of work is put into managing the land. These paintings are based off of photographs I and my friends took while we worked in the field. I combine the beautiful landscapes that I get to work in, as well as portraying the people who work there.
